THE CHALLENGE

Located in the heart of Toronto, Fort York is a historic site popular with Tourists and local School Boards.

  • The museum uses over 100 exhibit panels to explain the Fort’s history.
  • The existing exhibit panels had been in use for over 20 years and had experienced colour fading and physical damage.
  • The boards themselves were gatorboard with a laminate.
  • The museum management wanted a solution that would be more durable while making the exhibit more visually appealing.

THE SOLUTION

Ram DI implemented a combination of Dibond Boards and Acrylic.

The Dibond was laminated with a scratch resistant laminate making the hanging displays more durable and resilient.

The Acrylic displays were used in the exhibit cases on the second floor and offer a much brighter surface with colours that ‘jump’ out and are easier to read while also significantly increasing image resolution.

THE RESULT

The replacement Dibond and Acrylic displays were a huge hit for the museum management and has improved the museum experience for visitors immensely. Being one of the most visited museums in Toronto, and Ontario, the museum now has a visual upgrade worthy of a national historic site.
